A REAL DREAM

Minh Nhu’s paintings convey various perspectives: they explore the boundaries of social morality, contemplate the meaning of life, poignantly reflect on the fleeting nature of human existence, and candidly express skepticism towards art.

When examining these thoughts, one may perceive a harmonious balance and collaboration between the artist and the essence captured within the painting. Through the utilization of mineral pigments on silk canvas, the artist portrays the aspirations of individuals, the concealed recollections of a community, and the anxieties that encompass an entire generation. With a myriad of visual techniques, the artist seamlessly blends her identity with others, skillfully capturing the intricate interplay of objects’ weightlessness. She fearlessly bends the constraints of space and time, weaving a hidden perspective that brims paradoxes and contradictions. It is a journey that evokes a sense of artistic tranquility and sophistication. Step by step, she guides us into a realm of illusion that is both innocent and enchanting, simultaneously mysterious, and sacred. The visual language employed within the artwork is both uncomplicated and intricate, subtly encompassing the influences of East-West philosophies, while simultaneously evoking contemplation within the viewer.

The works can be interpreted as a dialogue between different value systems, from traditional to modern. They showcase the significance of art’s presence in today’s socio-cultural landscape. Additionally, they serve as a vibrant reflection of the artist’s personality within the realm of contemporary art. In essence, they can be described as  “a dream in real life”.

Nguyen Minh Quang is an artist whose works have been recognized both nationally and internationally. He is also a dedicated and esteemed teacher who has been teaching as a Lecturer at the HCMC University of Fine Arts for over a decade. He has a solid academic foundation in Fine Arts, having earned his Doctoral degree from the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts in 2016.

GIẤC MƠ THẬT

Xem tranh của Minh Như ta thấy đầy ắp những suy tư. Đó là những suy tư về giới hạn định kiến xã hội, về niềm tin cuộc sống, về sự hữu hạn của đời người và mối hoài nghi đối với nghệ thuật…

Khi tìm sự lý giải cho những suy tư đó, có lẽ chúng ta sẽ thấy trạng thái chấp nhận, hòa giải, thỏa hiệp giữa hoạ sĩ với cuộc sống trong tranh. Trên nền lụa trong suốt với chất liệu màu khoáng tự nhiên hoạ sĩ đã mô tả những giấc mơ của cá nhân, những ẩn ức của cộng đồng, những băn khoăn của cả một thế hệ… Với nhiều thủ pháp tạo hình, hoạ sĩ đồng nhất mình với người khác, xóa đi trọng lực của đồ vật, tự do diễn dịch không gian, thời gian…, vẽ nên một viễn cảnh ẩn chứa đầy những nghịch lý và mâu thuẫn đưa chúng ta tới một vùng ảo ảnh hồn nhiên mà mê hoặc, huyền bí mà linh thiêng, ngơ ngác mà rất từng trải… Ngôn ngữ tạo hình trong tranh giản dị mà đa nghĩa, ẩn giấu đâu đó những âm hưởng triết học Đông – Tây và đặt ra những câu hỏi còn để ngỏ cho người xem.

Chúng ta có thể xem các tác phẩm của Minh Như là cuộc đối thoại giữa những hệ giá trị khác nhau từ truyền thống đến hiện đại, là cứu cánh cho sự tồn tại của nghệ thuật trong đời sống xã hội ngày nay, là mảnh ghép lấp lánh của cá nhân hoạ sĩ trên bản đồ nghệ thuật đương đại và là “giấc mơ giữa cuộc đời thật”.
